I'm really enjoying your posts, Mickie. One other thought on "contextualizing..." I've found that making connections between various association vehicles can also add meaning. For example, a magazine/journal article that explores a case study in depth, a panel discussion at a conference that encourages dialogue around that case study, and later, follow up on a web-based discussion board or listserve - or a live chat. The silos we build in associations often inhibit our ability to cross boundaries with learning opportunities.
